Zembower’s History

In 1974, Bill and Sylvia Zembower started a small automotive repair shop with $150.00 and simple concept:

PROVIDE GOOD, HONEST SERVICE AT REASONABLE PRICES

In 1974, they bought the Eola Battery Company, located in downtown Orlando. That little place grew as a result of Bill and Sylvia’s faithful service and the business moved to a larger facility on West Washington Street in Orlando.
Sylvia, while running the office, also had primary responsibility of all four children. It is not surprising that by age 13, son Jay was spending the majority of his free time around the shop.

By age 18, Jay decided to join the business full time, first as a hands-on mechanic and then in management, while taking a wide range of college courses at night. He was committed from the start to a career at Zembower’s.
The company’s growth continued and in 1989, Zembower’s expanded to Altamonte Springs, which is the only location today. The Altamonte Springs community has treated Zembower’s very well.

1991 proved to be the biggest year of challenge. On May 10, 1991, Bill Zembower died from a series of complications from a heart attack. Bill’s memory is and will remain the heart of Zembower’s today.

Jay Zembower runs and operates Zembower’s today. Zembower’s Auto Center continues to be involved in their community. Jay has served in many capacities on local and state automotive councils. The business also provides accident re-creation service for local police agencies as well as assisting WFTV Channel 9 with investigative reports relating to automotive repair. In 1999, Jay was awarded “Technician of the Year” by NAPA/ASE. Jay’s expertise and extensive knowledge in the automotive industry is well known to those in the business. Jay stays very busy now days working as an expert witness with many law firms in the Southeast region. The business is in good hands with a professional and honest staff at the front counter.

Zembower’s has 14 service bays and is open from 7:30am to 5:30pm Monday-Friday and we are closed Saturdays and Sundays. The technicians are ASE certified and most are Master Certified. Zembower’s is a member of the BBB and an AAA approved auto repair center. Zembower’s growth and success is attributed to a solid foundation, commitment and the perseverance of the Zembower family and dedicated staff.
